Changes

We moved this summer, between summer school and the beginning of the new school session, far away from where we'd been. We were all worried that Diana would have trouble leaving the only home she'd ever known and the classmates she's known for nearly 10 years. But, with the exception of a few bumps in the road, by all accounts, she's doing terrifically well!

I got her room painted to her specifications ("dark blue ceiling") first thing, to help her feel settled and "home." School has started, and she's transitioned well into that. At first, she asked to go back to the old house, but since all her stuff is here, she seems content to stay. And since she's not refusing to get on the bus for school, and coming home in a good (or at least not BAD) mood, I think all is well.

The only real fly in my ointment is that she keeps asking to go to the house of a friend of Marc's from work. I'm not sure what the fascination is, but it's really annoying and a little hurtful - irrational as that may be. (I've busted my butt, getting her room just so, etc., and all she wants to do is go to some other woman's house?! She doesn't DO anything there, she won't play with the much younger girls there, not interested in the dog... what's the attraction???) *sigh*

She turned 13 in this house, so there's another level of change: officially a teenager, in a new house, new school, with many new opportunities ahead.
